Researcher In Integrative Marine Ecosystem Biology M/F
Researcher In Integrative Marine Ecosystem Biology M/F
Les missions du poste
Deadline for applications: 21/05/2026
Who are we ?
The IHPE (Host-Pathogen-Environment Interactions) laboratory is a joint research unit (University of Perpignan Via Domitia, CNRS, Ifremer, University of Montpellier) that develops multi-scale approaches - from molecules to natural populations - to understand the interactions between hosts, pathogens and/or environments. Its ambition is to contribute to global health in line with the One Planet - One Health - One Ocean' principle, through flagship projects on sustainable aquaculture, coral reefs and neglected tropical diseases. Recognised nationally and internationally, the unit draws on state-of-the-art technological platforms, a network of collaborations across Europe, South America, Africa and the Pacific, and a strong commitment to quality of life at work and equal opportunities.
Based within the Ifremer IHPE research unit and UMR 5244 IHPE, he/she will develop integrative approaches to understand and predict the evolution of interactions in the oceans, within the One World-One Health-One Ocean framework.
What will your mission and activities be?
Your role will involve developing, coordinating and promoting collaborative and interdisciplinary research projects within the Host-Pathogen-Environment Interactions (IHPE) laboratory. You will contribute to understanding the complex interactions between marine organisms, their pathogens and/or their environment in the context of global change, by employing integrative and multi-scale approaches (from the molecular to the population level), particularly omics-based approaches (genomics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics and/or metabolomics), as well as advanced bioanalytical tools. An interest in systems biology and modelling would be appreciated, though is not a requirement.
You will play an active role in promoting the laboratory's scientific reputation and strengthening its national and international collaborations.
Detailed responsabilities
- Design, develop and coordinate interdisciplinary research projects aimed at understanding the interactions between aquatic hosts, their pathogens and/or their environment.
- Implement multi-scale (from molecules to populations) and integrative, omics-based (genomics, epigenetics, transcriptomics, proteomics and/or metabolomics) approaches to analyse the biological and ecological dynamics of the systems under study.
- Conduct and supervise complex bioinformatic and bioanalytical analyses to extract, integrate and interpret data from fieldwork or experiments under controlled conditions.
- Contribute directly or through collaborations to the modelling and prediction of ecological and evolutionary processes related to environmental change.
- Lead and foster national and international collaborations, ensuring scientific coordination and the dissemination of research findings.
- Participate in the dissemination, publication and promotion of research through peer-reviewed journals, conferences and professional networks.
- Contribute to the training and supervision of students, PhD candidates and early-career researchers in the fields of integrative biology and omics.
Who will you be working with?
- Internal: Ifremer SEBIMER, Information Systems and Bioinformatics Division (IHPE), and the Ifremer units MARBEC, ASIM, EMMA, PHYTNESS/UMR LEMAR, RPMF and LEAD-NC
- External: national and international partners in research projects

Who are you ?
You hold a PhD in biology, bioinformatics, genomics, ecology or a related field within the life sciences. Postdoctoral experience is required; experience with integrative and/or omics approaches would be an advantage.
You have the following skills, knowledge and experience :
- Scientific skills: You have proven expertise in (epi)genomic, transcriptomic, proteomic and/or metabolomic analyses, as well as in bioanalysis and the processing of complex data derived from these approaches. You draft research proposals and are able to establish national and/or international collaborative networks in your fields of study.
- Technical skills: Proficiency in bioinformatics and biostatistics tools (R, Python, computing platforms, multi-omics integration tools).
- Methodological and cross-disciplinary skills: Ability to design interdisciplinary approaches, integrate multi-level data (molecular, physiological, ecological) and develop analyses with a strong computational component.
- Scientific communication: Excellent skills in writing, presenting and disseminating results in a national and international context.
- Languages: Proficiency in scientific English, both written and spoken.
You have the following qualities :
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with multidisciplinary partners (biologists, ecologists, bioinformaticians, modellers)
- Scientific rigour and organisational skills.
- Curiosity, creativity and analytical skills to solve complex problems.
- Ability to communicate in scientific English.
- Sense of responsibility and commitment
