Position Overview
The Department of Microbiology seeks outstanding faculty members in any area of microbiology, with particular interest in:
- Host-pathogen interactions
- Viral and bacterial pathogenesis
- Emerging infectious diseases
Faculty will have access to and potential alignment with the Howard T. Ricketts Laboratory (HTRL) at Argonne National Laboratory.
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting independent, high-impact research
- Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses (including potential medical school teaching)
- Collaborating across departments and divisions
- Participating in PhD committees and the Committee on Microbiology
Research Resources
- HTRL & gnotobiotic animal research
- Flow cytometry, high-throughput genomics, biocontainment facilities
- Duchossois Family Institute resources: biorepositories, metagenomics/metabolomics cores, bioinformatics
- Single-cell genomics facility with computational support
- Competitive research space and start-up funding
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent in microbiology or related field
- Completion of postdoctoral training
- Evidence of research excellence
- Teaching experience and mentoring ability
