The Division of Quaternary Geology of Department of Geology at TalTech invites applications to fill in a position of Researcher. The position will be filled in in frames of the EU Horizon project no 101184070 "Past to Future: Towards Fully Paleo-Informed Future Climate Projections (P2F2)" and its purpose is to carry out the tasks of the project P2F and its hop-on project P2F2 in collaboration with the members of the P2F.

This is a 18 month, full-time research position. The successful candidate will collect, integrate, and harmonize available European palaeoecological and environmental datasets to reconstruct post-glacial biodiversity dynamics and disentangle the relative impacts of climate change and human activities on its development.

The employment contract period is 01.10.2026-31.03.2028 and salary for the position is 2800 euros gross per month. The position can be carried out partly as remote work. The appointee is expected to participate regularly in P2F project or Division of Quaternary Geology meetings and seminars, and, when necessary, to undertake work-related travel.

Specific Requirements

Requirements for the candidate:

• PhD in Earth Sciences, ecology, geography, or a closely related field, obtained by the start of the position;
• proven experience working with heterogeneous (palaeo)ecological and environmental datasets, including their collection, systematization and harmonization;
• strong skills in quantitative analysis and modelling, including experience with simulation/modelling approaches relevant to palaeoecological datasets;
• proficiency in at least one relevant programming or scripting language (e.g. R, Python), or similar;
• ability to work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary and international research team, with good organisational and time-management skills;
• evidence of the ability to publish research in peer-reviewed journals and to communicate results clearly in spoken and written English (advanced level).

The following will be considered an advantage:

• previous research experience related to Europe;
• previous experience working with both terrestrial and aquatic organism groups.
