"Researcher 'Towards Human-Centred Technology' at Rathenau Institute"

Job Summary: As a researcher, you will collaborate with colleagues on projects within the program and for external clients. You will contribute to reports, notes for policymakers, politicians, scientists, and the general public, as well as set up and execute various research and dialogue activities to stimulate societal discussions on technology.

Responsibilities: Conduct literature research on emerging technologies and their impacts; map out policy options for policymakers; develop creative dialogue methods and facilitate dialogue sessions; organize workshops for politicians and policymakers; create public-oriented communication materials such as opinions and exhibitions.

Qualifications and Requirements: You must have graduated in a relevant field such as Science and Technology Studies, Design for Interaction, Science Communication, Media Studies, Economics, Public Administration, Sociology, or Philosophy. 1-2 years of work experience is preferred. You need strong communication skills in Dutch, affinity with qualitative and/or participative research methods, and experience in writing for both professional/scientific and broader audiences. You should be thorough, results-oriented, initiative-taking, team-oriented, socially engaged, and knowledgeable about debates on the digital society, AI, immersive technology, data economy, and big tech. Additionally, you should enjoy translating research insights into broader societal impact and possess good social and communication skills.

What the Employer Offers: A temporary contract for 2 years. Salary between €3,378 and €5,331 gross per month (scale 10, excluding 8% holiday pay, 8.3% end-of-year bonus, travel allowance, internet and home working allowance, and pension build-up with ABP). Other benefits include the possibility to expand vacation days from 29 to 41 per year (full-time), and various secondary conditions as per KNAW policies.
