Background of the recruitment and description of the project
The Institute for Solid State Physics (ISSP) was established in 1957 as a national joint research institute at the University of Tokyo to promote condensed matter physics and materials science research in Japan. In 2010, ISSP was granted a license to operate as a joint research center and act as a center of excellence in condensed matter physics and materials science. Since its inception, Research, Human Capability Development, and Joint Usage are the core axes of our activities.

Work content and job description
Through this call, we seek a motivated early-career researcher who will work in collaboration with Dr. Endo—supervising graduate students and engaging in joint research and in partnerships both within and beyond the institute—while taking a leading role in research on the development of laser light sources. Provided that the applicant has deep expertise and solid experimental skills in one of the following areas—ultrashort-pulse lasers, quantum optics, or nonlinear optics—their field of specialization need not match that of the position.
The scope of change is as follows: Displacement, concurrent service, and secondment may be ordered. However, in principle, such orders may not be issued against one's will. Details are in accordance with Article 4 of the Regulations on the Employment of University of Tokyo Faculty Members.

Compensation: Annual salary: 4 million yen - 8 million yen
Wages description: The annual salary is an estimate only and is determined based on factors such as education and work experience, etc. Therefore, the amount stated in the annual salary column is not guaranteed.
Working hours: 08:30-17:15
