Job Information
- Organisation/Company: Università degli Studi di Brescia
- Research Field: Engineering » Electronic engineering
- Researcher Profile: Recognised Researcher (R2); Leading Researcher (R4); First Stage Researcher (R1); Established Researcher (R3)
Offer Description
The researcher will carry out research activities in the field of sensors, electronic circuits, and MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems), with particular emphasis on the development of innovative, sustainable, and low-energy-impact techniques and technologies. The research topic foresees an innovative scenario in which the candidate will investigate methods for sensing applications based on the integration of microcircuits and microsystems, mesoscale components, and printed electronic or structural elements, including those fabricated on flexible and/or biodegradable substrates, with transduction functionalities exploiting various physical effects. The research activity will also involve the study, simulation, development, and experimental validation of signal-processing techniques and electronic circuits, with particular attention to cases with low signal-to-noise ratio and low-power operation. A first research direction will focus on investigating innovative energy harvesting techniques aimed at powering sensors without the use of batteries, thereby enabling energy-autonomous and sustainable sensing systems and contributing to the reduction of non-renewable energy consumption and the preservation of environmental resources. At the same time, a second research direction will address the application of innovative sensors in various domains, including industrial environments, for the monitoring of equipment and processes, enabling more controlled operation, reduced energy consumption, and enhanced sustainability. The researcher is expected to contribute to advancing knowledge in the field of sensors and microsystems by achieving innovative results through the study, simulation, and identification of solutions with potential applications in environmental monitoring, protection and conservation, advanced manufacturing, transportation, biomedical technologies, and wearable systems. The researcher will be required to establish scientific collaborations with national and/or international research groups, both academic and industrial, including participation in competitive calls for funded research projects.
Teaching and supplementary educational activities will relate to courses within the scientific-disciplinary sector IINF-01/A (Electronics) in the Engineering macro-area. The candidate may also supervise degree theses and PhD projects, provide student tutoring and guidance, and organize seminars and conferences.
