The Residence Life Coordinator for Student Staff Recruitment & Development creates dynamic learning opportunities for Resident Assistant (RA) staff that empower them to build intentional relationships, provide educational opportunities, and holistic support to students living on campus at Washington & Jefferson College. This is an in-person, full-time, 12-month, live-in position.
Duties & Responsibilities
Residence Life Coordinators are responsible for the following core duties at Washington & Jefferson College:
- Oversees the daily housing operation of campus residence halls within a defined area of campus.
- Provides leadership to and facilitates major campus housing initiatives including move in, winter hall closing, spring semester hall opening, and end of the academic year closing.
- Supervises and trains a staff of Resident Assistants (RA) with a primary focus on ensuring that each RA is connected to every member of their respective residential community.
- Implements the Residential Learning & Engagement Framework within the defined campus housing area and through department wide programs.
- Provides a high level of direct support to students and collaborates with faculty and staff to make appropriate referrals while using appropriate communication and documentation tools (Prez Pathways, Maxient, CARE team referral).
- Facilitates weekly RA staff team and one-to-one meetings.
- Serves as a member of the Administrator On-Call team that responds to urgent and emergency student needs on campus.
- Supports the Office of Community Standards by serving as a hearing officer for alleged violations of the Student Code of Conduct.
- Other duties as assigned.
Additionally, this professional is positioned to make a lasting impact on students through the recruitment and development of a talented and diverse campus RA staff team at Washington Jefferson College. This is accomplished by:
- Developing and executing a marketing and communication plan for the recruitment of Resident Assistant Staff.
- Working directly with the Residence Life Team to build the selection processes for student staff within the Office of Residence Life.
- Identifying key learning outcomes, goal and objectives for student staff training within the Office of Residence Life.
- Planning and coordinating all aspects of student staff training within the Office of Residence Life.
- Creating a meaningful recognition program for student staff within the Office of Residence Life.
Qualifications
Education & Professional Experience
- A master's degree in Higher Education Administration College Student Development, Counseling, Education, or a closely related field is required.
- 1+ year of experience working in a full-time professional live-in/on role within college/university housing is highly preferred. Alternatively, 2+ years of Graduate assistant experience and/or undergraduate resident assistant experience.
