Resident Assistant

• Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful residential community.
• Plan and implement educational, social, and developmental programming for residents.
• Promote student engagement and campus involvement.
• Serve as a resource and referral agent for academic, personal, and campus concerns.
• Maintain regular contact with assigned residents.
• Assist students in conflict resolution and peer mediation.
• Uphold and enforce University policies and Residence Life regulations.
• Conduct routine safety and security rounds.
• Document incidents accurately and submit reports in a timely manner.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies following university protocols.
• Attend required staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service workshops.
• Assist with hall openings, closings, room inspections, and check-in/check-out procedures.
• Maintain accurate records and communication logs.
• Represent Residence Life and Alcorn State University in a professional manner.
• Serve as a role model who demonstrates leadership, integrity, and accountability.
• Support university initiatives and student success efforts.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at Alcorn State University.
• Must maintain full-time enrollment throughout employment.
• Prior leadership experience (e.g., student organizations, athletics, mentoring, or campus involvement) is preferred.
• Previous residence hall living experience is preferred.
