Job Summary
The Residential Maintenance Specialist performs advanced maintenance tasks and serves as a technical resource within the facilities team. Skilled in at least one trade (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry), this role also supports general maintenance operations across campus residential buildings and infrastructure. The position bridges the gap between frontline technicians and supervisory leadership, ensuring timely, high-quality service delivery and assisting with coordination and oversight of daily work.
Responsibilities
- Perform skilled trade work in one or more areas (e.g., electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry)
- Respond to general maintenance requests including repairs, installations, and inspections
- Assist in planning and prioritizing work orders and preventive maintenance schedules
- Complete high volume of work during semester transitions
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, codes, and university policies
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and other departments as needed
- Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used
- Support emergency response and after-hours maintenance needs
- May support maintenance needs in other campus facilities on an as needed basis
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
- 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field
- Proficiency in at least one skilled trade and general maintenance practices
Preferred Qualifications

- Technical certification in a skilled trade
Proposed Salary
$20.71 - $25.88 per hour
This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.
