Respiratory Therapist 1 LOM FT Nights
Position Summary: A licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner by the state of California who will provide Respiratory Services according to the scope of the Respiratory Care Practice Act and the hospital policy and procedure manuals. The RCP will provide respiratory therapy services to inpatients and outpatients as ordered by the Physician caring for patients of ages: Birth - 12, 13-18 Adolescents, 18-64 Adults, and 65 plus Older Adults. Under the supervision of the Technician Coordinator and the Director of the Cardiopulmonary Department, the RCP provides respiratory care as directed by physician orders. Tasks include, but are not limited to basic respiratory care, emergency respiratory care, ventilator management, pulmonary testing and some cardiology procedures.
Required Qualifications: Current RCP license with the State of California. Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties. Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.
Preferred Qualifications: Minimum of 1 year acute care experience, Registered respiratory therapist or Registry Eligible with the National Board of Respiratory Care. Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.
Physical Requirements: 1) The ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. 2) Must be dexterity, coordination, visual/auditory acuity to perform job duties. 3) Must be able to turn, lift, and position patients up to several hundred pounds with assistance. 4) Must be able to reach, stretch, and assist patients routinely 5) Must be able to lift and carry boxes up to 30 pounds 6) May be necessary to push up to 400 pounds.
