Job Description
Basic Functions: FIRST DATE OF REVIEW IS SCHEDULED FOR NOVEMBER 4, 2025. FAIR LABOR STANDARDS ACT (FLSA) POSITION STATUS: EXEMPT. VOLUNTARY REASSIGNMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THE FIRST 7 WORKING DAYS (FULL TIME FACULTY ONLY), THROUGH OCTOBER 1, 2025, at 5:00 PM. THIS RECRUITMENT WILL BE USED TO FILL TWO (2) POSITIONS. 10-Month Tenure Track Position. COMPENSATION: Initial salary placement ranges from $67,886 to $106,308, based upon education and experience. The current faculty salary schedule includes five classes and twenty steps with a maximum annual salary of $142,425. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS: Comprehensive benefit package which includes: District paid medical, dental and vision insurance for the employee and dependents. District paid $50,000 life insurance policy for the employee. Participation in CalSTRS Teachers Retirement System.
Representative Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: May be required to serve as a CoARC Key Program Personnel position such as Program Director or Director of Clinical Education and fulfill their respective duties as outlined by the most current CoARC standards. Didactic and clinical instruction, including the potential for 12-24 hours per week of hospital clinical time. Consistent communication with clinical sites to ensure effective student clinical education and Victor Valley College representation. Coordination of career day/health fair activities. Counseling/advising students. Curriculum review. Complying with District policies and procedures in the performance of all duties. Participating in staff development activities. Serving on area and college wide committees as necessary to support and enrich college programs, activities, and initiatives. Demonstrating sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of students and colleagues. Promoting the success of a diverse student population through the use of effective counseling/advisement methods, models, and strategies and through the use of effective teaching methodologies. Clinical coordination to include clinical schedule development and clinical contract establishment and continuation as necessary to ensure effective student clinical experience. Participating in assessment, evaluation, and planning of Student Learning Outcomes and Program Learning Outcomes, Program Review, Curriculum Development. If selected or directed to serve as a CoARC Key Program Personnel anytime during employment the faculty member will be awarded release time as determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Requirements for Program Director: The PD of an associate degree program must have earned at least a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) 1. The PD of a program offering a bachelor's or master's degree must have earned at least a master's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) 1. Hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license. Have a minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care. Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs. Complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program. Requirements for Director of Clinical Education: The DCE of an associate degree program must have earned at least a baccalaureate degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) 2. The DCE of a program offering a bachelor's or master's degree must have earned at least a master's degree from an academic institution accredited by an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE) 2. Hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential and current state license. Have a minimum of four (4) years' experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care. Have a minimum of two (2) years' experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs. Complete the CoARC Key Personnel Training Program.
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any bachelor's degree and two (2) years of professional experience, or any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience OR the equivalent. Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential. California license Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) driven by accreditation requirements. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree from an accredited institution; OR Minimum of four (4) years' teaching experience in clinical respiratory care, research, management, or education associated with an accredited respiratory care program or medical school. In compliance with the requirements for Director of Clinical Education established by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). Must have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. WORKING ENVIRONMENT: Office, classroom, lab and/or on-line environment. Position requires ability to communicate and exchange information. The assignment may include day, weekend, and/or evening classes on campus and/or at off campus locations. Position requires ability and schedule flexibility to accommodate active participation in College and Department Outreach Events such as College and Career Fairs and College and Community Presentations.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of: Developing course syllabi. Fostering inclusive environments for student learning. Integrating accessible practices into course design and teaching strategies. Knowledge and ability to teach and support students across multiple modalities including, online, hybrid, remote, HyFlex, and correspondence while maintaining engagement and accessibility. Knowledge and ability to maintain compliance with all third-party accrediting bodies by keeping required credentials, certifications, and regulatory standards current when applicable. Ability to: Work effectively in person through clear communication, collaboration, and adaptability in diverse professional settings. Demonstrated ability to remain current in ones discipline through ongoing professional development, research, and engagement with emerging trends and best practices. Use advanced technology in the classroom. Use Canvas or other LMS platforms. Interact with others (faculty, staff, students, administration).
