Teaching 12-16 credits per academic year.
Participating in curriculum committee discussions relating to
the online RN to BS program.
Complete end of course reports every session as part of a
program wide quality management process.
Practice regular and substantive interaction (RSI) in an
asynchronous online course with a predictable weekly cadence of
instructor-initiated, outcomes-aligned engagement including:
- teaching short lessons or worked examples (typically via
video).
- facilitating student engagement with the course material via
instructor-moderated discussion with probing replies.
- designing required/scheduled activities with clear
response-time standards.
- assessing learning via assignments with individualized,
actionable feedback by a published turnaround.
- monitoring student progress and proactively contacting those
who need support.
Service Obligations:
- Participates in nursing accreditation processes as assigned by
Program Director.
- Serving on University committees- Faculty Council, Decker
College Assembly.
- Serving on work groups that contribute to preparation for
accreditation visits.
- Gathering and analyzing data related to course, curriculum and
program review to foster continuous quality improvement.
- Serving as course coordinator, course lead or Subject Matter
Expert (SME).
- Documenting actions taken in faculty and committee meetings as
appropriate.
- General academic advisement, coaching and mentoring to assigned
RN-to-BS students enrolled in the program.
- Maintaining Gen Ed designations on selected courses.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree (or higher) in Nursing or Nursing
Education.
- Unencumbered License in New York State or ability to obtain a
NY Nursing License before starting employment.
- At least 2 years online teaching experience with RN to BS
students or related degrees.
- Experience teaching using a Learning Management System, such as
Brightspace or Canvas.
- Proficient Computer/Technology skills including email, word
processing, and Google Workspace.
- Subject matter expert in courses such as pathophysiology,
pharmacology, population health, research, socialization to
practice, health policy, health assessment, and/or nursing
leadership.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Brightspace (D2L) products for online
teaching.
