RN Clinical Nurse Coordinator - Orthopedic Surgery
Position Summary
Coordinates the care of patients for a designated service throughout the continuum of care; serves as a clinical resource in area of specialty or expertise. The Orthopedic Joint Reconstruction nurse coordinator is an integral member of the interdisciplinary Orthopedic Recon team, and works in the outpatient clinical setting in the West County Area of St. Louis. Washington University Orthopedics Clinical Care is delivered Monday through Friday.
The nurse coordinator facilitates the multidisciplinary care of joint replacement patients with the goals of exceptional care, patient experience, and clinical outcomes. The Recon nurse coordinator improves patient preparedness for treatment through education, review of clinical needs, and support while also facilitating interaction between patients, their physician team, and referrals as appropriate. The Recon nurse coordinator works with the Recon leadership and physician teams to ensure patients are receiving comprehensive care while improving access and throughput.

Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides direct patient care, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients; completes health history and physical examination on patients; conveys findings to physician.
- Coordinates patient care, orders diagnostic tests, conveys findings to physician, attends inpatient rounds, coordinates patient appointments and assists with referrals to outside sources.
- Assists physician and provides support with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
- Performs a variety of nursing administrative duties, including compliance with environmental safety regulations, infection control standards and quality assurance.
- Acts as liaison and team leader by facilitating communication and coordination of care between patients, families and health team members; explains routines and procedures to patients and coordinates patient care information to appropriate sources.

Required Qualifications
Education: A diploma, certification or degree is not required.
Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration.
Work Experience: Nursing (2 Years).
Graduate of an accredited nursing program with two years of nursing experience. Current RN licensure in the state of Missouri and/or Illinois, depending on location, in accordance with the Compact Act. Basic Life Support Certification or obtains certification within one month of employment.

Salary Range
$60,800.00 - $105,700.00 / Annually
