Your Role on the Team

Position Summary: The PACU registered nurse provides direct patient care, in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, to assigned patients in the PACU. The registered nurse is a supportive, compassionate, efficient, detail-oriented team player with excellent interpersonal skills and who collaboratively maintains plan of care for vulnerable patients.

What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

• Current California RN license
• Current American Heart Association BLS, ACLS certifications
• Current American Heart Association PALS certification or must be obtained within 90 days of hire
• All External candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must possess a minimum of two (2) years current PACU experience or recent ICU experience in a critical care unit within the past two (2) years
• Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
• Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

• Greater than two (2) years of demonstrated nursing experience in a critical care or post anesthesia care unit
• Current CPAN, CAPA, CCRN certifications
• Knowledge of Title 22 and Joint Commission Requirements
• Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
• Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
