RN Staff Nurse - Pediatric Urologic Surgery

Position Summary

Don’t miss the opportunity to join our team at Washington University Department of Pediatric Urologic Surgery! We have approximately 14 providers who see patients at this location. We have 3-6 providers in the office each day. Our staff is comprised of RNs, LPNs and MAs. We are a close group that works as one team regardless of job title. Our providers typically see 16-24 patients per day. We see adults of all ages. Our population consists of patients who are surgical and/or procedural with a condition that is urological in nature. The RN role is multifaceted with a heavy emphasis on in-office procedures. This role also includes assisting providers with patient care, pre-op education, and diagnostic testing. Our clinical team rotates positions each day, some days working with a provider, some days seeing patients. This job is fully clinical. There is no back-office work involved. No calling patients, no pre-certs, no scheduling, etc. This position is Monday- Friday 7:30-4:00, no weekends or holidays!

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative and clinical support including taking and recording of vitals, obtaining weights, arranging EKGs or other tests.
  • Develops, inputs and manages the master schedule.
  • Provides emotional support to clients.
  • Speaks with parents, faculty and staff as needed.
  • Provides both phone and in-office reception responsibilities.
  • Responds to requests for refills of medication.
  • Coordinates referrals and administer Patient Assistant Programs as needed.
  • Assists with triage for walk-in clients or other students experiencing emotional difficulty.
  • Fulfills administrative responsibilities within the department including participation in staff meetings, accurate and timely record keeping, involvement in agency committees and planning.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Location/Working Conditions: Normal office environment. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at a desk or table. Equipment: Office equipment.

Required Qualifications

Education: A diploma, certification or degree is not required. Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Registered Nurse - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Registered Nurse - Missouri Division of Professional Registration. Work Experience: No specific work experience is required for this position.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Missouri RN licensure in accordance with Compact Act. Basic Life Support certification (Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements).

Preferred Qualifications

Education: B.S. - Bachelor of Science - Nursing, B.S.N. - Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Work Experience: Registered Nursing Work In A Hospital, Office, Or School Nursing Environment (2 Years). Skills: Behavioral Disorders, Clinical Terminology, Crisis Interventions, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Emergency Procedures, Epic EHR, Following Protocols, Interpersonal Sensitivity, Intervention Strategies, Medical Terminology, Medication Administration, Patient Evaluations, Patient Treatment, Professional Judgement, Psychiatric Care, Psychiatry Nursing, Referral Coordination, Safety Procedures, State Regulations, Trauma Informed Care.

Salary Range

$56,200.00 - $96,100.00 / Annually
