Description:
Responsible for the operations of a complex center or multiple departments at the university. Oversees staff and budgets, and projects.
- Administers a complex center or multiple departments.
- Manages budget and engages in strategic planning to ensure all goals are met.
- Hires and directs the activities of staff.
- Resolves personnel issues as they arise.
- Engages in budget-planning, grant oversight, and policy development.
- Implements new programs and projects and monitors ongoing activities of department or center.
- Reviews department policies and processes and implements improvements as needed.
- Represents department or center to internal and external constituents.
- Performs other job-related duties as required.
MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience. Certification/Licensing: None.
Job Description: The applicant will support the ROICE Program Executive Director by overseeing the technical work conducted by consultants and graduate research assistants on the ROICE team. The ROICE program conducts research and techno-economic evaluations for various offshore energy projects, including
- Evaluating the feasibility of repurposing existing oil and gas platforms for a variety of energy projects such as offshore wind, battery systems, hydrogen, carbon sequestration, geothermal energy, data centers etc.
- Developing models to determine the optimal project size for each given platform for each repurposing option
- Estimating capital and operating costs and resulting profitability metrics such as levelized cost, rate of return and net present value
- Studying different offshore regions and their metocean properties to understand technical feasibility of such repurposing
- Developing roadmaps to help industry move forward with such repurposing projects
Duties include
- Supervising graduate and undergraduate research assistants and consultants
- Collaboration with other faculty and research scientists,
- Writing research proposals and seeking grant funding,
- Writing technical papers and research reports.
- Interaction with the ROICE Program Collaborative (advisory board) and program funding managers
Desired qualifications of applicants include but not limited to:
- Over 20 years of offshore oil and gas and energy experience, preferably in both technical and management roles.
- Experience in energy operations, and techno-economic evaluations.
- Leadership experience in supervision, strategy development, workforce development
- Preferred background includes offshore structural engineering and integrity assessment.
- Department is willing to accept education in lieu of experience.
- Department is willing to accept experience in lieu of education.
