Offer Description
Title of the project: “Roman Legal Sources and the Textual Tradition: Heuristic and Epistemological Perspectives” - The project aims to advance the study of the legal sources of the Roman law tradition, with particular attention to their formation, textual transmission, and the interpretations proposed over time. The research may focus on individual works, groups of texts, or documentary traditions, considered in the light of their manuscript and editorial transmission and the relevant legal-historical context. Particular attention will be paid to the criteria used to identify and assess the materials, as well as to the epistemic assumptions that inform historical reconstruction. The research fellow will undertake a critical examination of the sources and investigate the interpretative or textual issues to which they give rise.
