Develop and execute genetic tools for gene-targeted and
high-throughput genomic assays in mouse models of TB, utilizing
advanced cloning and molecular techniques.
Immunological & Biosafety Work: Conduct immunologic
evaluations, bacterial and mammalian cell cultures, flow cytometry,
and fluorescence microscopy. Participate in BSL-3 laboratory
operations, including mouse infection models and tissue processing,
adhering strictly to institutional biosafety protocols.
Collect, compile, analyze, and summarize experimental data.
Evaluate results for accuracy and significance, troubleshoot
standard procedural anomalies, and report findings to the Principal
Investigator to inform future study directions.
25% – Laboratory Administration, Compliance &
Oversight
- Manage laboratory inventory, place orders, coordinate vendor
interactions, and ensure equipment maintenance and proper
functioning.
- Maintain laboratory biosafety documentation, regulatory
compliance records, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and
chemical/pathogen inventories.
- Oversee and maintain the lab’s mouse breeding colonies,
tracking lines and coordinating experimental availability.
- Assign, direct, and review the daily work of undergraduate
student employees or junior lab members; train lab personnel on
specialized laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications: (Must be documented on all application
materials)
- BA/BS degree plus at least two (2) years of relevant
experience, or a combination of education and relevant work
experience to equal at least six (6) years.
- General experience in basic bench laboratory biological
research techniques
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency in written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Desire to contribute to a team environment
- Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and
multi-task
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in biological science preferred
- Capacity for supervisory experience – potential to oversee
undergraduate researchers
- Targeted experience in molecular biology methods, including E.
coli culture, cloning, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and analysis of
Sanger DNA sequencing results
- Targeted experience in basic immunological methods, such as
ELISA and western blotting
- Experience with or willingness to learn mammalian tissue
culture, flow cytometry, mouse care and breeding, and both BSL-2,
as well as BSL-3 technical skills including work with pathogenic
Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Pay Range: Starting salary for this role is $22.12 to
$24.00, depending on education/qualifications/experience
