Safe Office On-Call Responder
Job Description Summary
The Safe Office On-Call Responder provides immediate after-hours response to Wake Forest University, Reynolda campus students who have been subjected to sexual harassment, assault, domestic/relationship violence or stalking. The On-Call Responder coordinates long-term and follow-up responses with the Associate Director of the Safe Office. This position requires on-call response 24 hours a day during assigned shifts. Shifts are scheduled on weekends and weekdays during the fall and spring semesters. This is a part-time position.
Essential Functions
- Remain accessible by cell phone at all times during scheduled on-call shifts to respond to incidents of sexual assault, domestic/relationship violence or stalking.
- Respond promptly to all calls for assistance or questions about resources regarding sexual and domestic/relationship violence and stalking.
- Provide immediate response to survivors in the event of a reported incident, following applicable University policies, guidelines, and protocols established by the Associate Director of the Safe Office.
- Provide follow-up assistance and response as directed by the Associate Director of the Safe Office.
- Consult with the Associate Director of the Safe Office as appropriate during and after responses.
- Keeps timely, accurate, and ethical records consistent with UCC/Safe Office policy and relevant professional code(s) of ethics immediately after a response.
- Meets monthly with the Safe Office team, or more frequently if circumstances warrant.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 20 hours of documented training in sexual assault and domestic/relationship violence response.
- One to two years of experience responding to incidents of sexual and domestic/relationship violence.
- Understanding of applicable privilege communication laws and the ability to manage confidential information and use sound judgment in responding to crises.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a high degree of professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and external agencies.
- Ability to meet requirements of the University's automobile insurance.
