Safety & Access Student Technician
The Operational Technology (I.T.) Student Technician - Safety and Access position is an exciting opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in the field of safety systems and access control. The ideal candidate is someone who is new to the University of South Florida (USF) and is eager to learn and grow in the field of operational technology.
As an entry-level technician, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced professionals who will provide training and guidance as you learn the programming and troubleshooting of campus safety systems. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to work in the field, gaining hands-on experience with electronics and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
The position offers a flexible schedule that accommodates classes:
- Hourly Rate: $15.00
- Hours per Week: 20
- Work Schedule: Monday - Friday
- Shift Hours: 8AM - 5PM
Responsibilities
- Assisting with the maintenance and support of hardware in the field
- Learning to program and troubleshoot life safety systems
- Providing support for software programs related to safety and access control systems
- Communicating with other departments and stakeholders to ensure the safety systems are functioning properly
- Ability to operate a vehicle to travel to different locations on campus
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a high school diploma, or equivalent, with one year of general office experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: The ideal candidate will have an active Florida driver's license, have the ability to accept a one-year student employment opportunity, possess strong problem-solving skills, and a willingness to learn and grow in the field of operational technology.
