Sam Ibrahim Chair in Entrepreneurship (Associate Professor or Professor)
As the Sam Ibrahim Chair in Entrepreneurship, the successful candidate will lead academic research and collaboration with the Sam Ibrahim Centre for Inclusive Excellence in Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership (SICIEEIL) while working collaboratively with the UTSC’s Office of the Vice-Principal Academic & Dean and the Office of the Vice-Principal Research and Innovation, and other units within the University of Toronto’s innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. This role will work collaboratively with the Director of SICIEEIL and Partnerships who has the overall accountability and responsibility for the day-to-day administration of SICIEEIL. UTSC’s entrepreneurship hub serving all 16 departments, and their undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, staff; and alumni. SICIEEIL is dedicated to empowering entrepreneurs across every stage of their journey, from idea conception to business scaling and groundbreaking research, fostering an inclusive ecosystem that celebrates diverse perspectives and fuels innovation across industries.

Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in Management or Entrepreneurship or Management in one of the following functional areas: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Organization Behavior, Operations Management, Strategic Management, or a related field, and must demonstrate an exceptional record of research and teaching expertise in Entrepreneurship. We seek candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths. Candidates will have an established international reputation and will be expected to sustain and lead innovative and independent research, and to maintain an outstanding, competitive, and externally funded research program. Experience teaching in a management program is preferred.
Candidates must provide evidence of research excellence, which can be demonstrated by a record of sustained high-impact contributions and publications in top-ranked and field relevant international academic journals, the submitted research statement, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades, an active research pipeline, and other noteworthy activities in entrepreneurship research that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline, as well as strong endorsements from referees.
Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, evidenced by the ability to integrate theory and practice effectively, strong communication and presentation skills, a willingness to supervise graduate students, and mastery of their subject area. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level will be provided through teaching accomplishments, the teaching dossier submitted as part of the application (with required materials outlined below), as well as strong letters of reference, and a strong performance during the on-campus seminar presentation for short-listed candidates.
In addition, candidates must demonstrate dynamic academic leadership, adaptability, and a track record of connecting and collaborating with multiple stakeholders within and outside the University. Candidates must demonstrate collegiality, visionary leadership, and the ability to mobilize resources to create a vibrant platform for developing and fostering entrepreneurship in Arts & Science. Evidence of academic leadership will be demonstrated by a statement of past experiences in academic leadership, such as in the area of innovation and/or entrepreneurship, including prior accomplishments, future plans, or other evidence of leadership-related activities, as well as strong letters of reference.

The rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The salary range of this position exceeds CAD $200,000 per annum.
