Preferred: Working toward a B.S. in biological sciences with substantial training and interest in organismal biology. Experience in working in ArcGIS or the ability to quickly learn the program. Independent worker. Interest in wildlife biology, ecology, or a related field.

Primary Responsibilities:
Purpose of Job: Works with the Borderlands Research Institute Scientists to develop and analyze GPS data for movement analysis across the annual cycle of sandhill cranes trapped and marked at Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area, Oregon. This position will work with the Scientists to answer a variety of different ecological questions such as but not limited to: characterize annual cycle movement patterns, understand seasonal variations in movements, and identify hotspots using kernel density estimation (KDE) of sandhill cranes marked at Ladd Marsh Wildlife Area.
- QAQC data set for subsequent analysis in ArcGIS.
- Develop Meta Data associated with the data set.
- Assist Scientists in answering management-oriented questions through analysis and reporting of findings.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for personal safety and the safety of others; must exercise due caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
Supervision: Direct supervision from Dr. Daniel Collins for day-to-day instruction. Dr. Collins will also act as the Faculty Mentor within the STEM Internship Program.
STEM Internship Program: This position is part of the Title III STEM Lobo Track to Success (LTS) SRSU STEM Internship Program. Along with the normal job duties, the student will learn from the faculty supervisor about the STEM workforce, different career pathways, research, and more. Students will gain knowledge, experience, and professional connections in the STEM field. Students will have access to professional development tools throughout the internship program (resume building, interview practices, etc.).
