Satisfactory Academic Progress and Financial Literacy Coordinator

Position Description Summary/Purpose
The position requires focus on two areas of student counseling; Satisfactory Academic Progress and Financial Literacy. The Coordinator is responsible for monitoring students’ academic progress according to Title IV regulations and school benchmark policies. This position counsels and supports students to assist them in establishing and attaining good academic standing. In addition, the position requires outreach to students to ensure they complete the required Financial Literacy course as well as one-on-one student counseling related to fiscal responsibility.
Essential Job Functions/Primary Responsibilities
Satisfactory Academic Progress:
- Audits students’ academic records at the end of each evaluation point to determine financial aid eligibility based on Title IV regulations
- Documents student accounts with SAP statuses
- Support students who are on Academic Warning or Probation by creating academic plans
- Active participant of the SAP Appeal Board
- Collaborates with Admissions, Financial Aid and Business offices for students who are not meeting their benchmarks
- Collaborates with the academic department for students requesting registering for repeated course
- Processes requests for readmitted students by evaluating SAP from previous enrollment and responding accordingly.
Financial Literacy:
- Responsible for the management of a comprehensive Financial Education Program for Goodwin students through a mandatory course, FIL 101, for all undergraduate students
- Utilizes institutional social media outlets to educate the college community regarding programs and assist in the design of marketing materials, website and outreach strategies for program events and resources
- Active and consistent communication and outreach to counsel delinquent student loan borrowers to resolve delinquencies and defaults.
- Maintains consistent contact with lenders to ensure accurate reporting to/from NSLDS
- Participates in events such as Welcome Week, New Student Orientation, Summer Bridge Program and Grad Expo
- Conducts all work in a safe manner and all work safety practices are followed.
