As an HR Coordinator, you'll play an important role in supporting recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and day-to-day HR operations while partnering with faculty, staff, students, and hiring managers across the university. From helping managers navigate the hiring process to solving payroll puzzles and keeping HR processes on track, no two days are quite the same.

This is a range recruitment for an HR Coordinator. The successful candidate may be hired at Level 3 or Level 4, depending on qualifications and experience. Placement within the range will be determined based on demonstrated competencies, education, and relevant experience.
Human Resources Technician 3 - Pay Grade 77
Intermediate knowledge of University human resource processes and procedures to include benefits and applicable labor laws. Intermediate knowledge of computer applications and/or electronic spreadsheets. Intermediate knowledge of Banner HR, creating reports, payroll and personnel actions. Ability to analyze and resolve routine issues. Intermediate knowledge of collective bargaining agreements. Ability to lead, present and train other human resource coordinators.
Human Resources Technician 4 - Pay Grade 78
Advanced knowledge of University human resource processes and procedures to include benefits and applicable labor laws. Advanced knowledge of computer applications and/or electronic spreadsheets. Advanced knowledge of Banner HR, creating reports, payroll and personnel actions. Ability to analyze and resolve complex issues. Knowledge of collective bargaining agreements. Ability to lead, present and train other human resource coordinators.
Human Resources Technician 3 - Pay Grade 77
Minimum 1 year of progressive experience in human resource-related activities. Specifically automated financial and personnel systems.
Human Resources Technician 4 - Pay Grade 78
Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in human resource-related activities. Specifically automated financial and personnel systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
Human Resources Technician 3 - Pay Grade 77
One year of college coursework in human resources, and two years of technical human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Human Resources Technician 4 - Pay Grade 78
Two years college coursework in human resources, and three years of technical human resources experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Position Details:
This position is located on the University of Alaska campus in Fairbanks, and flexible on-site/hybrid work arrangements may be considered in accordance with UA regulations. This is a full-time, term-funded, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule, Grade 77 or 78, based on education and experience.
