SCC3 Allied Health Instructor
Job Responsibilities
Serves as an Allied Health Instructor for the College via the Strengthening Community Colleges grant program. Includes duties of teaching, developing materials, advising students, and providing assistance to the administration through committees and other activities.
Job Functions of the SCC3 Allied Health Instructor
- Teaching Performance – Demonstrates ability to present course materials through appropriate instructional strategies to facilitate the learning process.
- Instructional Development – Develops, revises, and maintains courses, syllabi, lesson plans, and curriculum.
- Student Advisement – Advises students by assisting students in personal and professional development and providing academic guidance to assigned advisees and students enrolled in classes.
- Professional Development – Participates in professional development activities, both internally and externally, to expand knowledge and skills.
- College and/or Community Service – Participates in college activities, including committees and teams, recruitment, and promotion events, and promotes the college through public service.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, an unencumbered active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another Compact state, and a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered or advances practice nurse related to the primary area of responsibility. Confident with teaching basic healthcare procedures and familiar with a wide variety of healthcare professions. Previous experience teaching at community/technical colleges. Experience using a variety of teaching modalities (face-to-face, broadcast and online). Must have at least one year of experience working in a long term facility or nursing home. Must have a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
Teaching ability is a must, with a concern for student success and willingness to advise students on a regular basis. A Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing along with an unencumbered active license as a registered nurse in South Carolina or another state. American Heart Association CPR/First Aid instructor certification or the willingness to acquire one. Employee will receive minimal supervision in the performance of teaching and advising responsibilities; employee is expected to demonstrate independence and discretion in teaching practice and student advising.
Additional Comments
This is stated as a temporary full-time grant position located at the Marlboro campus in Bennettsville. The teaching environment includes classroom and lab, requiring local travel to business/industry and community campuses, and some short term travel may be required for professional meetings. Teaching locations include partner High Schools, Federal, Juvenile Correction facilities, community campuses and industry partners. Driver’s License Required.
