Scholarship holder-doctoral student for the research project entitled " Ecological succession processes of fungal and bacterial consortia involved in wood decomposition in natural forest "no. 2025/57/B/NZ8/00811, carried out as part of the NCN Opus 29 competition under the supervision of dr hab. Grzegorz Janusz, prof. of UMCS.
Terms of employment:
Place of research: Department of Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Institute of Biological Sciences, Faculty of Biology and Biotechnology, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin
Planned employment from 1 October 2026 for 18 months with the possibility of extension by another 3 months, provided that the doctoral student meets the requirements specified in the provisions of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on Higher Education and Science, necessary to receive a doctoral scholarship throughout the entire period of implementation of the planned tasks in the project
Amount of scholarship:
- PLN 1,500 gross/month – for mid-term evaluation;
- PLN 3,000 gross/month – after mid-term assessment
The scholarship from project funds is an independent benefit and is paid in addition to the doctoral scholarship granted for participation in the doctoral school.
List of required documents:
- CV or research resume including previous scientific achievements and experience in other research projects,
- cover letter,
- a copy of the master's degree diploma or an official document confirming the award of a master's degree,
- copies of documents/certificates confirming professional qualifications
- a certificate confirming the status of a doctoral student at the Doctoral School or a declaration of intention to join the Doctoral School of Exact and Natural Sciences, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin ,
- the opinion and consent of the doctoral thesis supervisor to participate in research in the indicated project or the opinion of the previous scientific supervisor,
- declaration of knowledge of English or certificate

Description of tasks:
As part of the implementation of research tasks in the Opus 29 project entitled " Ecological succession processes of fungal and bacterial consortia involved in wood decomposition in natural forests "no. 2025/57/B/NZ8/00811, the scholarship holder will be obliged to:
- Enzymatic activity assays
- Sample preparation for metagenomic and metaproteomic analyses
- Maintaining research documentation.
- Analyses of obtained metadata.
- Preparing manuscripts for international journals from the JCR database and presenting results at scientific conferences

Selection process
As part of the competition process, we reserve the right to invite only selected candidates to an interview, as well as the right to reject the competition or to cancel it.
There is no right of appeal against the decision issued by the Scholarship Committee.
If the selected candidate declines the scholarship, it will be awarded to the next person on the qualification list.
The competition will be conducted in accordance with the "Regulations for the allocation of funds for the implementation of tasks financed by the National Science Centre in the field of research projects."
The competition committee will evaluate candidates in the following categories:
- candidate's scientific achievements, including publications in renowned publishing houses/scientific journals (50% of the final grade)
- achievements resulting from conducting scientific research, scholarships, awards and scientific experience gained in Poland or abroad, scientific workshops and training, participation in research projects (20% of the final grade)
- competences to carry out specific tasks in a research project (30% of the final grade):
