School of Law, Assistant Professor of Law (Business), Tenure Track
Loyola University Chicago School of Law invites applications for a full-time, entry-level tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Law, with expertise in Business Law beginning around August 1, 2026. This position is open to scholars willing to teach in any area of Business Law, but preference will be given to candidates focusing on (1) Business Organizations, (2) Securities Regulations, (3) Secured Transactions, and/or (4) International Business Transactions. Ability and interest to teach in the hybrid format in our part-time/weekend JD division will also be considered as part of the review process.
Applicants must present a JD with excellent academic credentials, evidence of outstanding scholarship or scholarship potential, and a devotion to teaching and mentoring students. The responsibilities of the position will include:
- Scholarly research and publication;
- Teaching one to two courses per semester in the area of Business Law, including (1) Business Organizations, (2) Securities Regulations, (3) Secured Transactions, and/or (4) International Business Transactions and other business-related areas.
- Service to the School of Law, University, and community;
- Participation in School of Law faculty governance and committee work;
- Active involvement in student mentoring and advising;
- Significant engagement with academic institutions and professional organizations, including frequent participation in local, regional, and national meetings and symia.
Qualifications required for the position are:
- Juris Doctor degree (J.D.) from an accredited institution;
- Established publication record or potential for future publications;
- A research agenda; and
- Strong commitment to social justice issues.
Additional valued qualifications include:
- Practice experience;
- Clerkship experience.
