School of Nursing, Clinical Instructor/Clinical Assistant Professor/Clinical Associate Professor (Pediatric Acute Care NP Program Director) (Non-Tenure Track, 0.80 - 1.0 FTE)
The Stony Brook University School of Nursing invites applications for a 0.8–1.0 FTE academic year faculty appointment within our Graduate Program, with an additional opportunity to serve as Program Director of the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PACNP) program. This is an exceptional chance for an experienced Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to play a key role in educating the next generation of pediatric acute care providers while contributing to the continued development and growth of an established graduate program within a nationally recognized academic health center.

Program Director Opportunity
The selected candidate will serve as Program Director for the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (PACNP) program, providing academic oversight for a program that prepares advanced practice nurses to deliver high-quality care to acutely ill and critically ill pediatric populations.
The Program Director reports to the Department Chair, with collaboration and consultation from the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and the Dean.
In this role, the Program Director will:
- Provide leadership for the PACNP curriculum and program outcomes
- Guide program evaluation and continuous improvement aligned with professional standards and accreditation expectations
- Ensure program quality and compliance with the School of Nursing Evaluation Plan and program benchmarks
- Collaborate with faculty, clinical partners, and school leadership to support student success and program development
To support these responsibilities, dedicated workload support and an administrative stipend are provided for the duration of the Program Director appointment.

As a Clinical Instructor, Clinical Assistant Professor, or Clinical Associate Professor, the successful candidate will contribute to the educational, scholarly, clinical, and service missions of the School of Nursing. Our clinical faculty lead innovative, student-centered teaching and experiential learning that prepares graduates with the advanced clinical reasoning, leadership, and practice competencies needed to thrive in today’s complex healthcare environment.
The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and curriculum development within the Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and related graduate courses. Faculty members are encouraged to bring creativity and innovation to their teaching and are supported in advancing the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, including the development, evaluation, and dissemination of innovative educational practices.
Faculty appointed at the Clinical Assistant and Clinical Associate Professor levels are also expected to contribute to the broader mission of a major research-intensive university through scholarship, practice, and professional service.
Opportunities to maintain clinical practice may be available, supporting continued engagement in pediatric acute care and enhancing the connection between clinical practice and teaching.

Required Qualifications:
- Valid Pediatric Acute-Care Nurse Practitioner NYS and National Certification (PACNP)
- Valid NY State Professional Nurse License
- Recent Nurse Practitioner Experience in Pediatric Acute Care
Preferred Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent - Earned or In Progress)
- Experience Precepting Nurse Practitioner Students
- Upper Division Teaching Experience
- Leadership/Supervisory Experience
