The Schwarzman Scholars Program is recruiting Postdoctoral Teaching Fellows (PTF) for the 2026-2027 academic year, to be based at Schwarzman College at Tsinghua University, Beijing China.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION

Schwarzman Scholars is a fully-funded, one-year master's degree program in global affairs at Schwarzman College, Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. An unparalleled learning experience, it is the first scholarship of its kind created to respond to the geopolitical landscape of the 21st century and designed to prepare the next generation of global leaders.

Each year, around 150 candidates from around the world are selected to join a diverse cohort. Schwarzman Scholars seeks candidates with leadership qualities and the potential to foster cross-cultural understanding. Scholars come from a wide variety of industries and backgrounds, such as business, technology, politics, healthcare, and more.

Schwarzman Scholars' dynamic curriculum–based on the pillars of China, leadership, and global affairs–is designed to provide Scholars with the knowledge, skills, and firsthand experience needed to navigate the complexities of the evolving global landscape. Through an immersive experience in China, Scholars spend a year living in Beijing, studying at the prestigious Tsinghua University under the guidance of leading academics and global thought leaders.

POSITION SUMMARY & MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Schwarzman College PTFs work as part of the Academics team and play a vital role in helping the Schwarzman Scholars program in fulfilling its mission by ensuring academic success of courses and students. PTFs will fulfill the following three main academic roles: teaching support, academic support, and student advising.

The main responsibility for the PTFs will be to support teaching in core courses at Schwarzman College, working closely with core course professors to offer assistance, such as leading discussion and tutorial sessions. All PTFs will support the China core course as well as courses in either Global Affairs or Professional Ethics. All PTFs also support the year-long Capstone project course.

Additional Responsibilities would include serving as:
• All around in-house tutor and mentor to the Scholars, providing academic counseling, Capstone advice and support as needed; Capstone workshops, and interim Capstone report review.
• Ad-hoc advising and support to Schwarzman College Career Services team for Scholars interested in pursuing doctoral studies after their Schwarzman Scholars year;
• Provide assistance to Scholars with academic writing (as needed).

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND QUALIFICATIONS

Individuals with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
1. Doctoral degree required. Degree must be awarded no later than June 2026 in public policy, political science, economics, international relations, history, or other relevant fields with a focus on China;
2. Fluency in English (for purposes of teaching, research and communications);
3. International experience and knowledge and experience working in or on China. Educational background in the United States and/or Europe is preferred.
