Duties & Responsibilities
- Participates in maintaining computational biology workflows for data analyses to fulfill research goals.
- Work with Dr. Schrauwen and other laboratory staff to identify problems with computational biology workflows and recommend solutions or changes as necessary.
- Aid in interpreting results and generating insights.
- With the assistance of Dr. Schrauwen, conduct computational research with the goal to study the molecular background of neurological disorders.
- Assist with data management and data analyses using laboratory designated software to obtain study objectives.
- Utilize good coding practices including versioning (eg. Github) and writing detailed documentation to document all data analyses pipelines.
- Contribute to managing and formatting data for publications and presentations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent trouble shooting skills.
- Ability to conduct research independently and within a team.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and delegate to others.
- Effective communication, organization and documentation skills.
- Ability to learn and adopt new technologies in bioinformatics.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required. Up to 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with an emphasis on bioinformatics, biostatistics, biology, biochemistry, computer sciences or a related field. Master's degree in a related field of study. Experience in analyzing next generation sequencing data, such as genetics, transcriptomics and epigenetic data. Experience with linux shell coding/bash, R or Python. Comfortable with job submission on a high-computing cluster.
Compensation and Benefits
