INFRAFRONTIER, the European Research Infrastructure for Modelling Human Diseases, is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing disease understanding and treatment through cutting-edge models. Operated by a network of over 20 leading biomedical research institutes, it empowers research on human health and disease. Responsibilities:
The Scientific Director will act as the legal representative and the executive managing director of Infrafrontier ERIC together with an Administrative Director. S/he will be accountable to the Assembly of Members of the INFRAFRONTIER ERIC for the performance of the following areas:
- Leadership of an international organization,
- Definition and proposal of the future strategy of Infrafrontier ERIC to the Assembly of Members,
- Efficient scientific management of Infrafrontier ERIC,
- Support of the Assembly of Members by setting the agenda of its meetings and preparation of its deliberations and decisions; as well as ensuring the execution of the decisions of the Assembly of Members,
- Leading the interactions with external stakeholders, coordination of public relations, dissemination activities and outreach to potential users,
- Coordinating the scientific output and consortium publications
INFRAFRONTIER ERIC will pay an appropriate allowance to the Scientific Director. The advertised position is not a full-time post. It is conceived as a part-time position (approx. 6 hrs / week) that can be carried out in addition to existing obligations.

Requirements
- Research Field: Biological sciences » Laboratory animal science
- Education Level: PhD or equivalent
- Languages: ENGLISH
- Level: Excellent
- Years of Research Experience: More than 10
Specific Requirements
- Renowned and leading scientists in rodent models and genetics with vast knowledge on research with in vitro and in vivo models and human disease modeling using advanced technologies,
- Familiarity with the European research area and funding system,
- Well-connected in the European Research Infrastructure Landscape (EC, ESFRI, Life-science RIs, ...),
- Knowledgeable about the ethical and legal frameworks for utilizing animals in research,
- Broad understanding of the legislative and ethical frameworks and statutory requirements related to the general RI environment in Europe,
- Broad strategic vision and a business perspective in RI management,
- Ability to communicate objectives and activities to different stakeholder groups as well as to balance diverging stakeholder requirements,
- Expertise in service development, including a solid understanding of intellectual property rights.

- The top candidates will be invited to give a presentation on-site in Neuherberg near Munich, Germany in November/December.
- The official appointment of the Scientific Director of INFRAFRONTIER ERIC depends on the availability of the candidate. The preferred starting date is in Q1 2027.
