Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Scientific Engineering Associate in Berkeley, CA.
Duties:
- Advanced method development on Hamilton Robotic platforms.
- Apply technical, scientific, and engineering principles to evaluate manual laboratory work protocols/process and develop and optimize automated work processes.
- Calibrate and operate a variety of electronic components, devices, instruments, equipment, or systems.
- Gather feedback and requirements and analyze data to make recommendations.
- Work independently and make decisions during shift work without additional support.
- Troubleshoot automated platforms.
- Participate in engineering and process improvement projects to gain operational efficiencies such as reductions in project cycle time, cost, and labor time.
- Serve as an additional subject matter expert for the lab automation.
- Respond to automation-based work requests in the JIRA ticketing system and apply good documentation practices when closing work orders.
- Collaborate with vendors for support and troubleshooting of equipment as well as building and maintaining relationships.
- Work with other engineers and vendors to execute the assembly, qualification, validation, and deployment of new and incoming automation instruments.
- Write standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and knowledge base articles.
- Assist the lab manager with general lab maintenance.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field and 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupation.

- Appointment type: This is a full-time, career appointment, exempt (monthly paid) from overtime pay.
- Salary range: The expected salary for this position is $95,160 to $116,292 depending upon the candidate's skills, knowledge, and abilities. This includes education, certifications, and years of experience.
