Offer Description
The National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics has an open position for a Scientific Researcher under project 5TE/2025, with expertise in Biology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Medical Engineering/Biomaterials or related fields.
The selected candidate will be involved in culturing and maintaining mammary cell lines (cancerous and normal) and carrying out protocols for contact between cells and photosensitizer-loaded hydrogels; performing procedures for exposing cell cultures and hydrogels to the LED (IR) light source, following the established protocols; performing standard laboratory tests to assess post-irradiation cell viability and collecting primary data for cytotoxicity analysis.

Specific Requirements
The candidate must have good knowledge of:
- cell cultures and in vitro models;
- assessment of cytotoxicity and cell viability;
- assessment of oxidative stress and reactive oxygen species, cell biology techniques, as well as nanotoxicology;
- language skills: advanced level of English.
- planning, organization and efficiency in managing allocated resources;
- loyalty and confidentiality regarding the objectives and activities of the project;
- good skills in written and oral communication;

- Oxidative stress in biological systems: mechanisms of generation, role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and methods for intracellular detection of singlet oxygen;
- Interaction of nano/microstructured systems with the biological environment: nanotoxicology, cellular uptake and active and passive targeting strategies for tumor cells.
- Principles of cellular photobiology: cytotoxic effects induced by the generation of reactive species (cell death mechanisms – apoptosis vs. necrosis).
