Perform daily laboratory maintenance and support ongoing
research activities
Conduct molecular biology techniques including PCR, Western
Blotting, real-time PCR, cell culture, cell medium preparation,
DNA/RNA isolation
Perform genome editing in cattle and pig cells and are able to
do micromanipulation of oocytes and embryos
Produce both cow and pig in vitro embryos by in vitro
maturation, in vitro fertilization, and in vitro culture and assist
in the generation of experiments to improve the in vitro embryo
production system in both species
Support animal care activities as needed and in accordance with
approved protocols
Assist in the development, implementation, and compliance
monitoring of standard operating procedures
Train and assist student workers in laboratory techniques and
safety procedures
Summarizing study outcomes to form manuscripts.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Shift
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Others as needed
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related/relevant area and at least 4 years of
experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be
acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master or PhD degree in biology, animal science, or another
related field
- Previous experience in bovine and swine genome editing
- Prior experience of working with bovine and swine cells and
animals
- Previous experience in in vitro embryo production in cows and
pigs
- Ability to work independently and as a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Anticipated Hiring Range
The anticipated hiring range for this position has been established
as $60,944.00 - $112,320.00 per year
Salary is determined by a variety of factors, including but not
limited to, the individual’s particular combination of education,
skills, and experience, as well as organizational
requirements.
