Department, Unit or Project Description:
As a Research Assistant IV, you will work with Dr. Lawrence Mbuagbaw and Dr. Behnam Sadeghirad, alongside a team of research coordinators and graduate students. You will support systematic reviews, individual patient data meta-analyses, network meta-analyses, and clinical practice guidelines. You will also be required to support multiple projects simultaneously, with potentially changing priorities. Our research covers a wide range of clinical topics, providing a rich and varied experience.
This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth and development. You will learn state-of-the-art methods in evidence synthesis and have the chance to co-author impactful manuscripts, with the potential for publication in high-impact journals. This opportunity will put you on track to seek further graduate or post-graduate training or a career in health research.
This is a part-time position that will be fully remote and requires weekday availability between 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Job Summary:
Provides specialized research support to faculty members in their teaching/ laboratory activities. Work is performed independently.
Accountabilities:
- Designs, adapts and performs specialized research procedures.
- Carries out complex statistical analysis.
- Assists with recruiting participants for studies.
- Coordinates and conducts structured project participant interviews and focus groups.
- Conducts literature reviews and synthesis.
- Coordinates the use of laboratory equipment.
- Records, classifies, and summarizes research data according to established procedures.
- Performs other related tasks as outlined by the research coordinator.
Qualifications:
Education: Completed a relevant post-secondary degree.
Experience: Minimum of 12 months of experience.
Assets:
- Familiarity with statistical analysis methods and software such as Stata, R, or WinBUGS is considered a strong asset.
- Familiarity with advance evidence synthesis methods (e.g., network meta-analysis, individual patient data meta-analysis) is considered a strong asset.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate must have / demonstrate the following qualifications and qualities:
- Experience with leading and supporting systematic reviews, which include:
- Screening search records to identify eligible studies;
- Collecting data and assessing risk of bias from eligible studies;
- Familiarity with GRADE methodology and methods to assess certainty of evidence.
- Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Strong project management, organizational, and time management skills.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Outstanding attention to detail.
- Ability to independently and effectively complete tasks.
