About the opportunity
The Dementia Respite Education and Mentoring (DREAM) Project aims to improve knowledge, skills and support for organisations and individuals providing dementia respite care through provision of online dementia education, an online Community of Practice (CoP) and mentoring support delivered by dementia coaches.
The Island Study Linking Ageing and Neurodegenerative Disease (ISLAND) Project has been established to recruit a research cohort of Tasmanian residents aged 50+, and characterise their dementia risk knowledge, behaviours, current and historical health status, cognition and dementia-related biomarkers; deliver educational, health-related and community-based dementia risk reduction interventions and measure patterns of change in behavioural, cognitive and biological dementia risk indicators; and understand the conditions in which dementia risk reduction interventions, delivered in a real-world context, yield the greatest benefit, and inform future dementia prevention research, policy and practice
The incumbent will be responsible for various aspects of each project. In the DREAM Project, they will be responsible for developing project outputs specific to dementia respite care, with a particular emphasis on the Community of Practice.
The incumbent will take an active leadership role in delivering the functions of the ISLAND dementia and cognition research clinic and will take a lead role in various research programs relating to the clinic as well as operational and governance processes.
What you’ll do:
- Make an effective and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
- Support the implementation of strategies to promote active participation and engagement of organisations and individuals in Wicking-led projects.
- Engage and build relationships with partner organisations, local clinicians, service providers and industry experts across a range of aged care, respite care and health related fields.
- Work with the DREAM Academic Team to drive the growth and success of the online community of practice including identifying, appraising and delivering online content, and supporting and moderating CoP activities.
- Ensure best possible learning outcomes for participants with limited English, and participants with low digital literacy skills.
What we’re looking for:
- A nursing qualification with demonstrated experience in the aged care sector.
- A sound understanding of education and training needs in the aged care sector.
- Demonstrated experience in design, development and review of contemporary online learning materials.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective, collaborative professional relationships with individuals and teams in formal and informal contexts.
- Experience with managing clinical data, including the use of database and clinic operations software.
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 7 or HEO8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $147,034 comprising base salary within the range of $98,473 to $125,670 plus 17% superannuation.
