The Secretary is responsible for ensuring guidance and information is clear and that stakeholders remain informed and for decisions made under delegated authority, triaging cases as appropriate, including declining applications where certain criteria have not been met relating to timeframes. The Secretary provides annual reporting; as well as ensuring the procedures and guidance are reviewed, updated and fit for purpose.

The secondary element of this role provides high-level administrative support across Education Services. The post holder will work closely with the Education Services' Senior Leadership Team to help deliver priority work, which may involve complex administrative functions, contributing to policy development through research and drafting, supporting the planning and implementation of cross-service initiatives, and coordinating institutional reporting. In addition, the role may offer senior-level administrative cover for teams within Education Services during periods of extended staff absence or while vacancies are being filled.

The role holder will have proven experience of working in a case handler role in a higher education, customer service or legal environment; and experience of operating with a regulations or compliance framework, either within the HE sector or a comparable sector. Excellent accuracy and attention to detail is fundamental, in addition to being able to remain calm and patient when under pressure or handling difficult individuals.
