Section Head (International Students Coordinating Office)

Job Description

The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) is a student-facing department that supports and enhances the experience of NUS students and student life on campus. Within OSA, the Community Engagement and Integration (CEI) Division develops and delivers programmes that enable students to contribute meaningfully to the community, while also supporting international students' well-being and integration into the university and Singapore.

The candidate will lead a team supporting international students' transition into NUS and Singapore. The role includes overseeing orientation and integration programmes, providing student advisory support, and managing student cases, and requires expertise in student engagement, social integration, and cross-cultural communication.

Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement strategies to achieve international students' transition and integration outcomes.
  2. Provide strategic and operational leadership in designing and delivering key international student programmes, including but not limited to the Pre-Arrival Programme, Arrival Connection Programme, Graduate Welcome Sessions and International Students Orientation Programme.
  3. Work with the team to establish and manage programme evaluation frameworks to track outcomes, measure impact and guide programme decisions.
  4. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to design and develop resources that build students' and staff's capabilities in integration.
  5. Lead community engagement outreach and education efforts in partnership with internal and external stakeholders, such as ISCO outreach talks during faculty orientations, and work with agencies including Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) to deliver integration outcomes.
  6. Oversee student advisory and case management, including assessing student needs, coordinating interventions, and resolving complex student issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  7. Oversee and advise student organisations engaged in cultural and integration activities, ensuring that their activities support meaningful learning and development outcomes.
  8. Ensure effective reporting and administrative oversight across all areas of responsibility.
  9. Collaborate across OSA teams on cross-functional projects that contribute to organisational development.

Qualifications

  1. A Bachelor's degree or equivalent, with at least 10 years of professional experience in youth and/or student development and the higher education sector.
  2. A self-directed and adaptable leader, able to work independently and navigate change.
  3. Demonstrated leadership capability in providing direction, exercising sound judgement, and operating effectively in complex and evolving environments.
  4. Strong people management skills, with experience in leading, coaching, and developing staff.
  5. Strong organisational and operational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, ensure accountability, and support effective delivery.
  6. Strong attention to detail to maintain accuracy across programmes and reporting.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess situations and make informed decisions.
  8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  9. Proficient in outcomes and impact measurement.
  10. IT proficiency, including MS Office applications.
