Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is currently recruiting for an organised, customer‑focused Security Coordinator to join our Security Services team within Campus Operations on a permanent, full-time basis.
This is a key coordination role supporting security systems, service delivery, and projects across our Wellington campuses. You’ll work closely with the Security Systems Manager, technical advisers, frontline security staff, and internal stakeholders to help ensure our campus environment remains safe, welcoming, and well-supported.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage security enquiries, shared inboxes, and service requests.
- Coordinate access control and identity management (onboarding/offboarding).
- Administer and support security systems including access control, alarms, and CCTV.
- Track and coordinate security work requests with internal teams and external providers.
- Support incident response, investigations, and reporting.
- Assist with project coordination, audits, and compliance activities.
- Maintain accurate security records, databases, SOPs, and documentation.
- Provide front‑of‑house and operational support as required.

You are a proactive, customer-focused person with a strong understanding of security systems, processes, and data, and you enjoy ensuring operations run smoothly and compliantly.
Key requirements:
- Relevant tertiary qualification or NZQA Security standards, with 2-4 years’ experience working with enterprise scale security systems.
- Proven ability to coordinate work effectively in fast-paced or complex environments.
- Strong organisational, project coordination, and database/reporting skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong customer service mindset, with ability to explain technical information clearly.
