Job Duties: The Athens State University Security Officer will report to the Chief of Security for providing security for the university. The officer shall provide courteous aid to visitors and students.

• Assist students, faculty, staff and visitors in locating buildings and other general information
• Safeguard equipment and buildings
• Lock buildings, secure windows, turn off unnecessary lights
• Make visual and physical checks of buildings, parking lots and grounds at intervals by vehicle and on foot
• Inspect areas of safety hazards
• Be knowledgeable of campus rules and regulations
• Maintain traffic and parking enforcement

Required Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
• A high school diploma or its equivalent
• A State Peace Officers Standards and Training Commission Certification
• Firearms certification
• Law enforcement related experience
• Valid Alabama Driver's license

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical agility and ability to perform general law enforcement duties
