JOB SUMMARY:

This position is staffed with the Physical Security Operations Center within the Clemson University Police Department. This involves live interaction with video and access control resources to aid in response and investigations as necessary. Conducts forensic searches and data analysis to aid with ongoing investigations. Supports University Housing Environmental Patrols and other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

• 30% - Essential - Monitors electronic surveillance system resources (patrol campus by video) to detect safety hazards or concerns. May also physically patrol campus in support of operational needs. Reports safety concerns to University Police. Monitors automatic license plate reader (ALPR) data for alerts and communicates relevant information to police personnel in real time. Works to maintain electronic surveillance system by configuring camera features and reporting work orders for issues observed with cameras. Ability to work flexible schedules including day and/or night, rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, special events - based on the needs of the department.
• 20% - Essential - Aids with patrol and criminal investigations by conducting forensic searches of electronic surveillance and access control resources, including, but not limited to; video and access control records(cardholder and/or door activity), data and images accumulated by automatic license plate reader (ALPR) systems, as well as assisting with data analysis.
• 20% - Essential - Provides real-time situational awareness to Police, Fire and EMS via active monitoring of the electronic surveillance system based on dispatched calls for service and CAD monitoring, self initiated activity (traffic stops, field encounters, and property checks), and suspicious activity observation. When necessary assists with remote facility access as appropriate.
• 30% - Essential - Provide support to the housing environmental patrol program of Physical Security Operations. This may include but not limited to, monitoring the work of the student workers and interns assigned to the program, occasionally providing transportation to and from post assignments for housing community patrol staff, and monitoring electronic surveillance systems specifically in University housing areas.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - High School or Equivalent - Experience in fire prevention, safety or security activities.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education - 1st Associate's Degree - Knowledge of Criminal Justice Information System practices.
Work Experience: 2+ years

RESPONSIBILITIES

BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES: No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Scheduled Hours: 9:00 PM - 5:00 AM; Standard Hours: 40

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Band: 03 ($ 28,060.00 - $ 35,484.80)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Emergency Response - In the event of an emergency closure or modified operations, this position is required to respond in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on call.
