Senior Academic Adviser
Position Purpose:
Provide academic advising to current and prospective undergraduate students who are pursuing or plan to pursue an undergraduate degree program in the School of Education and Human Services. Create a graduation plan with each student and assist students facing challenges along the way. Perform necessary administrative functions to maintain student records including overrides, preliminary registration, transfer credit evaluations, change of major, major standing, and graduation audits. Attend admissions events and orientations as well as other programs designated by SEHS. Utilize advising tools and technology to support student success, retention and graduation initiatives at the departmental and university-wide level. Assist the Director where necessary. Lead advising technology and career preparedness programming. Create and conduct training and professional development for new and continuing advisers.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- A minimum one (1) year experience in academic counseling or advising.
- Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the university's academic policies and curricula
