Advertising Summary: VCU has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Accountant to join the Treasury Services team!

Duties & Responsibilities:

The senior accountant is responsible for recording electronic deposits to the bank accurately and in a timely manner; investigating and responding to bank reconciliation items; processing state tax debt setoff transactions and posting correcting entries as the result of audited university deposits; reconciling merchant fees and miscellaneous Treasury indexes; setting up and monitoring merchants for Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance; managing receivables for the State Debt Setoff program receivables in coordination with the State Department of Accounts; and providing backup support as needed to ensure operational continuity.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

• Five years or more of relevant accounting, finance, or applicable experience
• Proficiency in financial systems and MicroSoft Excel
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrated capacity for independent thought, intellectual honesty and decision making.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of banking reconciliations, state tax processes, and PCI compliance
• Banner Finance experience
• Experience in higher education or state agency
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Salary Range: $55,000 - $65,000
