  • Reference number: 25622
  • Term: Fixed-term, full-time basis for three (3) years
  • Remuneration: $135,483 to $153,562 pa (HEW8) (inclusive of $114,485 to $129,761 salary pa, 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading)
  • Location: Gardens Point (hybrid option available)

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Senior Adviser, Gender-Based Violence to join Office of the Vice-President (Administration) and University Registrar, Administrative Division.

The Senior Adviser, Gender-based Violence provides specialist advice and support in relation to gender-based violence and other complex complaints involving interpersonal conflict. Working within the newly created Complaint, Safety and Support Triage Services, the position complements existing specialist support areas, including Equity, Human Resources and Health Safety and Environment, to provide specialist advice, guidance and support to other areas of the University operating within the complaints framework.

The Office of the Vice-President (Administration) and University Registrar supports the day-to-day management of the business of the University Registrar and provides a central point of contact for the various stakeholders of the Administrative Division and in regard to matters within the University Registrar’s portfolio..

What you need to succeed

  1.  Education, training and/or experience equivalent to postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards postgraduate qualifications) in Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling, or a relevant field together with extensive relevant experience and/or knowledge and training in supporting people affected by gender-based violence.
  2. Registered Psychologist with AHPRA, AASW accredited Social Worker, or ACA or PACFA registered Counsellor.
  3. Demonstrated competency, or ability to build competency, in working with First Nations people, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, people with a disability, and people of diverse sexual orientation and gender identity.
  4. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including proven expertise in conducting risk assessments, developing safety plans, and managing complex cases involving gender-based violence using trauma-informed and person-centred approaches.
  5. Demonstrated excellence in client management with diverse populations and commitment to service provision with the ability to assess complex disclosures and determine appropriate response pathways in a busy and complex organisational environment.
  6. Demonstrated high-level skills and experience in professional practice, including key elements such as confidentiality, records, upholding professional boundaries, and engaging in ongoing professional development.
  7. Demonstrated capacity to be a highly effective team member, with strong personal skills in self-awareness, communication and collaboration, problem solving and team contribution.
  8. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current issues and priorities in tertiary education including the prevention of gender-based violence, student wellbeing and mental health, and diversity and inclusion.
