Senior Audio Visual Engineer

Main duties and responsibilities

Are you someone who thrives in a hands-on technical environment and enjoys supporting others through digital technology?

We are looking for an experienced Senior Audio-Visual Engineer to help deliver and maintain the smooth running of our AV systems across a range of teaching, learning, and meeting spaces.

In this varied and practical role, you'll be a valued member of the Digital and Technology directorates’ AV Facilities team, supporting and maintaining the AV equipment and systems across our vibrant university campus. From ensuring teaching spaces are AV-ready, to resolving live technical issues and maintaining systems for events and lectures, this is a role where you can see the direct impact of your work.

You'll have opportunities to support and influence AV design, configuration, and integration, while contributing to a responsive and supportive service. Whether it’s supporting large-scale lectures, specialist teaching spaces, or collaborative meetings, your expertise will help provide a high-quality experience for students and staff alike.

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Experienced in setting up and maintaining AV equipment in event or teaching environments.
  • Comfortable diagnosing and resolving a range of AV and IT-related issues.
  • Confident supporting users with varying levels of technical knowledge including providing internal support and training to other members of the AV team
  • Flexible and self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to customer service.

A strong understanding of AV systems that include projectors, displays, audio and control systems is essential. Prior experience in IT networks and AV/IT integration, including lecture capture, Microsoft Teams meetings, and PC configuration, is desirable.

At De Montfort University, we’re proud of our inclusive and supportive culture. In addition to the opportunity to develop your career within a modern university setting, we offer a generous benefits package including:

  • 22 days annual leave plus bank holidays and additional university closure days
  • Local and national discounts on shopping, leisure, and travel
  • Access to wellbeing and mental health support services
  • Membership of local government pension scheme
  • Training and development opportunities to keep your skills sharp and relevant
  • A campus environment that celebrates creativity, diversity, and sustainability

You’ll also be joining a team committed to working collaboratively, compassionately, and creatively, with a strong focus on inclusion and innovation.

If you have a passion for AV technology and a desire to support a thriving learning environment, we’d love to hear from you. Apply now to start your journey with DMU.
