Digital Services have two fixed term Senior Business Analyst positions available, each one working on a different project. As a Senior Business Analyst, you’ll be both a team player and a coach—eliciting, analysing, and validating business needs for innovative projects. You’ll work closely with Product Managers, delivery teams, and stakeholders to ensure solutions are fit-for-purpose and deliver real value.

Role 1:

  • Fixed-Term position until 29 October 2027, 37.5 hours per week.
  • Salary - $108,459 - $132,255 p.a, based on skills and experience

This role supports the implementation of a new Higher Degree and Ethics Monitoring System, working closely with the Graduate School, Ethics Committees, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the solution is well designed, configured and tested.

Role 2:

  • Fixed-Term position until 21 December 2026, 37.5 hours per week
  • Salary – $108,459 - $121,679 p.a, based on skills and experience

This role plays a key part in enabling the Flexible Assessments programme (Phase 1), by translating academic, policy, and regulatory requirements into clear, implementable business and system outcomes.

For Phase 1 of the Flexible Assessments programme, this role is focused on eliciting, analysing, and clarifying academic, policy, and operational requirements to support shared understanding and informed decision making. This includes analysing current assessment practices, identifying constraints and opportunities, and defining feasible future technology options for consideration.

Working closely with academic leaders, professional staff, and delivery teams, the Senior Business Analyst provides analytical leadership to support feasibility assessment, scope definition, and readiness for subsequent implementation phases.

This is a time limited engagement focused on analysis, discovery, and definition activities.

Both roles will focus on:

  • Creating effective communication and relationship-building with stakeholders across the University
  • Gathering, analysing, and documenting business and technical requirements for digital solutions
  • Facilitating workshops, meetings, and presentations with senior stakeholders
  • Supporting the development and delivery of product roadmaps, business cases, and process models

Mōu | Who You Are

You will have at least 10 years’ experience as a Business Analyst in IT with a commercial or private sector, hold a bachelor’s degree (NZQA Level 7) in IT, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field. You will also be able to demonstrate experience in:

  • Strong technical background and ability to lead technical teams
  • Proven expertise in requirements gathering, gap analysis, data modelling, and process mapping
  • Experience delivering digital solutions and developing business rules/policies
  • Skilled facilitator of large meetings and workshops with senior stakeholders
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean methodologies
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and organisational skills
  • An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
