Senior Business Controller
Job Summary
You will be a senior business controller at the NFU, the branch organization of the 7 university medical centers in the Netherlands. You will optimize processes, manage complex financial flows, and find digital, innovative solutions in the healthcare sector. This role involves strategic support for management in a dynamic environment focused on healthcare, education, research, and societal challenges.
Responsibilities
- Set up and monitor the PDCA cycle (planning, control, evaluation, and adjustment) for the budget and annual plan of the NFU.
- Manage and analyze complex subsidy financial flows from government, partners, and funds.
- Develop framework reports and steering information for the management team and NFU board.
- Identify financial risks and advise on mitigating measures.
- Execute multi-year budgets, scenario analyses, and business cases.
- Contribute to and guide digital and innovative solutions for control issues, such as dashboards, automation of reports, and data analysis.
- Contribute to the further development of the financial function within the organization, including setting up a reporting cycle and internal quality improvements.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed WO-level education, preferably in Business Administration, Accountancy, Economics, or similar.
- Extensive experience as a (business) controller, preferably within a healthcare umbrella organization, hospital, or UMC.
- Demonstrable experience with financial steering in complex organizations or chains.
- Affinity with public financing, subsidies, and policy-related programs.
- Analytical, result-oriented, connecting, and strong communication skills.
- Enthusiasm for innovation and proactive thinking about digitization within the financial function.
- Knowledge of systems like AFAS, Power BI, or similar tools is a plus.
- Expected workweek of 32-36 hours.
What the Employer Offers
Salary based on scale 12 of the UMC collective labor agreement (€5,847 to €7,424 per month for a full-time position of 36 hours per week), determined by knowledge and experience. Additional benefits include 8% vacation allowance, a thirteenth month, favorable pension contribution (70% employer, 30% employee), and provision of a phone and laptop.
