The School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHaPS) is one of three schools within the IoPPN, comprising the four departments of Psychology, Social, Genetic & Developmental Psychiatry (SGDP), Health Service & Population Research (HSPR), and Biostatistics & Health Informatics (BHI). With over 100 Principal Investigators, our research spans development from childhood to old age, encompassing basic research through to the development and implementation of treatments, services and policy.
About the role:
We have an exciting 12-month opportunity for an experienced professional administrator to join the Professional Services team in the School of Mental Health & Psychological Sciences (MHaPS) at King’s College London. We are seeking a highly organised, experienced and proactive Senior Business Officer to provide essential administrative support to our HR & Finance Cluster.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Business Operations Manager (HR & Finance) to support four departments. They will be part of a small, friendly, and dynamic team dedicated to enhancing collaboration among academics, researchers, and professional services across the School, Faculty, and University. Their contribution will be vital to maintaining and developing these relationships.
This role is ideal for candidates who excel at managing multiple priorities, have a working knowledge of and experience in HR and Finance processes, and can communicate confidently with a wide range of stakeholders. You’ll gain extensive experience in HR and Finance administration, with opportunities for personal development.
This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract.
It is a hybrid working arrangement, with minimum 3 days on campus and 2 days from home.

Essential criteria
- Working knowledge and experience of HR processes, software, and regulations.
- Working knowledge and experience of financial processes, software, and regulations.
- Strong knowledge and skills in HR & Finance acquired through relevant roles, demonstrating progression through increasingly demanding work/roles.
- Relevant work experience with Excel, Word, Copilot (AI tool), PowerPoint and relevant Microsoft applications.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to receive, understand and relay complex ideas or information to various groups at all levels.
- Effective time management, ability to manage competing priorities, working independently and proactively, and working with minimal supervision. Contributing to the broader team’s goals and objectives.
- Exceptional organisational skills, including administrative and operational experience and in-depth knowledge of a range of practices, methods and procedures to deliver effective and efficient support
Desirable criteria
- Working knowledge and experience of HR & finance systems (such as PeopleXD, KFin and Worktribe academic costings).
- Experience of working in a dedicated HR or finance role.
- Experience of line management of administrative staff.
£39,076 to £43,909 per annum, including London Weighting Allowance
