Senior Buyer and Online Administrator - Bookstore
Job Summary
Responsible for selecting, procuring, and managing inventory of materials and supplies for resale at all KSU Bookstore locations as well as supports purchasing for other Retail Services spaces. Facilitates e-commerce presence and product representation on Bookstore website. Collaborates on all marketing and promotions both in-store and online.
Responsibilities
- Selects and acquires gift, technology, and clothing for resale, maintaining pricing and margins at desired levels
- Manages eCommerce presence as it relates to product representation and partners with Marketing Team to maintain overall look and functionality of website
- Coordinates with department staff and others to ensures products are properly priced, tagged, signed and are well stocked and merchandised on the sales floor
- Assist with the preparation, setup, and implementation of retail spaces at sports venues and other special campus events
- Assists with managing all graduation related products, services, and events
- Develops relationships and meet regularly with product vendors
- Responsible for hiring, training, scheduling, and supervising student assistant staff
- Supports department leader and other members of the leadership team
- Works closely with campus customers and partners to accommodate special product needs and requests
- Stays actively involved with industry organizations and keeps up with current trends, fads, and fashions
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education in related field or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
Required Experience: Five (5) years of relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Educational Qualifications: An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
Preferred Experience: Previous retail and management or supervisory experience; Previous buyer or procurement experience; Experience managing purchases across a wide variety of commodities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Abilities: Able to identify and select vendors and suppliers; Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
Knowledge: Knowledge of business and management principles involved in operating and managing a retail store; Familiar with basic web design.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills; Skilled negotiator; Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite); Strong attention to detail and follow up skills; Strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette.
