Job description:

The University of Sheffield is seeking an exceptional Senior Clinical Lecturer and Honorary Consultant Physician in Infectious Diseases to join the School of Medicine and Population Health. This joint University–NHS appointment offers an exciting opportunity to combine internationally recognised research with high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, alongside consultant-level clinical practice within a leading tertiary infectious diseases service. The postholder will join the Clinical Infection Research Group and contribute to the University’s growing strength in infection and immunity research, working closely with partners including the Florey Institute of Infection and the NIHR Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre.

We are looking for a clinical academic with a strong track record in infectious diseases research, a commitment to innovative medical education, and the ambition to develop collaborative research programmes that address major global health challenges. This is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in shaping clinical academic activity in infection and immunity while contributing to outstanding patient care, education, and research in a vibrant and supportive academic environment.

The School of Medicine and Population Health is home to over 1,500 undergraduate students and 850 postgraduate students from over 50 countries. The CIRG at The University of Sheffield sits within the Division of Clinical Medicine, School of Medicine and Population Health (https://sheffield.ac.uk/smph/cirg). The group includes principal investigators, clinical and post-doctoral research fellows, project managers, bioinformaticians and laboratory staff dedicated to improving human health by understanding the host-pathogen interactions occurring during the infection process. Many of our projects are international and we have collaborators in many countries across Europe, Asia and Africa.

The CIRG works collaboratively and are part of the Sheffield Biomedical Research Centre (Infection and Immunity theme https://www.sheffieldbrc.nihr.ac.uk/our-research/infection-immunity), with strong links to Sheffield Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, The Florey Institute (http://www.floreyinstitute.com/), as well as multiple industry partners.
